Picture of the Okeefenokee Swamp with Cypress trees and water.Since a young boy, I've been an explorer. I love the outdoors and everything it has to offer. Adventures in the outdoors kept my sanity when I worked in The Big City. Now I write about those adventures and enjoy them again and again through the inspiration they give me. Exploring a new lake, forest, or meadow is to step into another world. A world where anything can happen. A place where treasure lurks in hidden places and danger threatens from all directions. There is a sense of excitement when exploring new places. You never know what you will discover there. What delights you will find. Or what new experience will set your heart to racing like a teenager kissing their first love.

Images of a statue holding it's face in disbelief.I think one of my biggest peeves in the online world is people who are in such a rush, they don't bother to read what you've written. Worse are the people who are so full of themselves they think no one else is capable of coherent thought.

Picture of a Spiral GalaxyDo you ever like to think deep? To get down into the nitty gritty details of something and work on it for the sole purpose of expanding your own understanding, through your own thought process.

Deep thoughts on technical and philosophical topics are a favorite of mine. I like to get into the details of something and know how it functions. Take the microprocessor in this computer for example. I enjoy knowing exactly how it works and why, when I press a key, a letter appears on the screen or some action takes place. Ever wonder how the mouse pointer moves across the screen? I know why.

Sketch of a Neanderthal ManDiet fads have been around since donuts and other goodies have been enhancing hips and bellies. Some diets were designed to help people lose weight, others helped define a way of life or belief system. Along the way, someone discovered that certain diets could help control physiological problems, like diabetes for example. Following a high protein, high fat, low carbohydrate diet and eating many small meals as opposed to three big meals allowed diabetics to keep their blood sugar from spiking.

Picture of a campfire at night.Comfort is one of those words I have trouble defining to others, but it has a clear meaning to me. Expressing that meaning is the part I have trouble with. Knowing what it means is as simple as home-baked bread to me. Home-baked bread is comfort in itself, and just one of the many things I identify with comfort. The aroma of home-baked bread brings forth memories of home and Mom and so many things I associate with comfort.

Returning home is another thing. Being back at my own place, with my wonderful wife is one of the most comforting things I know. Nothing can surpass that. Even when we are in different rooms, just knowing she is there with me is the ultimate comfort. Lately she's been home a lot more than usual during the day and I've grown very comfortable with that. I'm going to be uncomfortable for quite some time when her home time ends and she is not here all day.
